June 29, 2010: Trying to find stuff to shoot when storms aren't happening can be a bit of a challenge in Nebraska. Nearly went out for a fog photo opportunity this morning, but just couldn't get to sleep in time for a very early wake up. The morning before that there was a partial Lunar Eclipse that I did end up waking up for and attempted to shoot, but low hazy clouds prevented any "cool" scene that might have happened near the setting moon over the Omaha skyline. I guess the next big thing to do is shoot fireworks.

Minnesota is just 8 days from now, should be a rather interesting time. Hopefully there will be plenty of ops up there. It would seem like there should be, hopefully better chance to view auroras and NLCs since it's a lot further north than Omaha. 44 degrees North, rather than Omaha which is 41 degrees north latitude.

When you think of Minnesota compared to Nebraska you may think there are more photo ops/better ones. But really there Area I'll be living is quite a ways from the cooler areas like the north shore, boundary waters etc... Might take a trip or two up there though. Also found a good spot to do the whole Fog deal like at Murray Hill. Red Wing, MN has a big bluff similar to the size of Murray hill, so I might try that a few times as well, although that will be a tougher forecast since its a new area. But I'd think there would be a few good "fog setups" during the 6 weeks I'll be up there.

June 23, 2010: Still trying to get the video stuff right, its just been a big headache. Finally got it to upload widecreen 16.9 aspect ratio, but for some reason there is no sound. Figures. Not like there is much to the audio in this video anyway. First part the camera was going in and out of focus, so annoying. It gets better later, but again focus problems at the Dover tornado scene, Sigh.

June 22, 2010:What do you know another Nebraska bust, this is getting old. Still working on figuring out video stuff. Also need to get a couple accounts done. It appears chasing is nearly done for me this year. Will have May 19 video up later today (Wed 23).

June 20, 2010: Chased NC Kansas today with Chris. Really a wasted setup for tornadoes, as storms gusted out almost instantly. Nevertheless had a fun day with wind, and a brief tornado NW of Concordia. Thing wrapped up real hard and had some nice rotation for a while. Will have video up at some point, but here are some photos for now...

June 18, 2010: Failed miserably yesterday in SW Minnesota and NW Iowa. Biggest tornado outbreak of the year everywhere I was not. Thinking that if I had data the day would have turned out differently, but the morning models really screwed up. Of course I get to W IA by the time crap should be going insane, but doesn't, I mean really, if I could have gotten a tornado with this lighting I would actually rather been down in W IA than chasing the wedges in C and N MN.

Of course now Sunday (the only day I can't get off work) is looking nuts in SW Iowa. Just figures.

June 11, 2010: Another incredible chase day! Chased a supercell in eastern Colorado near the town of Last Chance. It had some of the most amazing structure I have ever seen. Crazy sunset with lightning op for a little bit there, stacked the lightning shots. I'll do an account later.

June 7, 2010: Everything is now up to date, check out the Chase Reports section for 2010, the last three accounts are posted there.

June 6, 2010: Looks like Thursday and Friday will be the next real chase days (thinking tomorrow will cap bust). Here are a few more from the June 3rd St Paul Supercell. I'll have the account up by tomorrow night.

June 3, 2010: Chased central Nebraska today, for most of the day it seemed it would be a let down, but suddenly at 8pm a supercell developed west of St. Paul and displayed some nice structure, later I had some very cool twilight lightning ops with an updraft base. Will have plenty of photos for an account. For now here are two.

June 1, 2010: Spent most of yesterday morning trying to figure out where to target, finally something was looking good on radar up near West Point, Nebraska. It had some cool structure and a really green hail core. Later when we chased it into Iowa Cloud to Cloud to ground lightning strikes were going insane. I bet 50 or more strikes were within a mile or two of us, a half dozen or so were closer than a quarter mile. It was a fun day, no tornadoes or hail even, but the structure and lightning made up for it!
